MAD shows mad advertising skills at district finals

April 2018

The Miami Advertising Club (MAD) brought home the 1st place award at the District 5 Finals of the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) in Cleveland over the weekend.

Junior marketing majors Ian Jones, Andrew Gauder, and Rachel Rosenthal, and junior interactive media studies major Liz Marot represented the club that came out on top among colleges in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.

The NSAC, held annually by the American Advertising Federation, is the premier college advertising competition that provides more than 2,000 college students the real-world experience of creating a strategic advertising/marketing/media campaign for a corporate client.

Students develop a marketing plan and then pitch their work to advertisers. This year's sponsor was Ocean Spray and the charge was to increase penetration of Ocean Spray cranberry juices and Craisins dried fruit among millennials.

The MAD team is one of 19 teams from across the US that will compete in the semi-final round to be held virtually May 2-3.
